Nearly on top of it all

It was a grueling streaming season this year with all our live streams happening in a six week period. By the end of that the whole crew was going a bit crazy, especially those of us who still have not been paid for any of our speedbox efforts. It wasn't without its dramas but I can say it has been our most successful year yet.

We were banking on doubling our numbers this year and unfortunately that didn't happen. We had approx 50% growth. This will mean that the price of the live streams goes up, how much is not yet decided but it will likely be $5 to $10. We are still trying to find the right balance between subscriber numbers and price.

I have spent the last 3 weeks editing and uploading the live stream archives and producing the DVD's which will be available through our soon to be created on-line shop. You can also get them from the event holder tracks.

Now my focus turns to uploading the other content that we have access to. Boat racing, motor cross, drags and what ever I can get my hands on.

We thank all the people out there who support what we do. We have been hearing of a small number of people who have been abusing the speedbox service and using it outside the terms and conditions of the product, when we hear what they are doing it really hurts as we have been thrashing ourselves for four years trying to make this work and sometimes we think why bother. Then we think of the many honest people out there who really like what we do and it helps us move on. Even when the chips are really down you get people who only think of themselves and not the big picture, just look at the looters in Christchurch.

We really have a need to create a decent return to the promoters of these events. We are not against having a few people over to watch the live stream at your house, that's great especially if you are introducing them to the sport, maybe they will go to a meeting once they are exposed to it. What we are against is very large groups of people such as the group in south Auckland who were charging $5 per person to come in and watch, That is just out-right theft and does speedbox no favors, the promoters no favors and speedway no favors. This is the second year in a row that that group has done something like this and yes I am angry about it. I would suggest that the reasonable thing to do would be buy one subscription for each 10 people at your location. this year that would only have been $2 each, is that to much to ask?

I won't even go into the other scams some people have been involved in, as we can track it and are still undecided about what course of action we will take.

The irony is that those people probably don't even read this blog so won't get this message and the good people who support us are having to read this and see my dark side. Anyway the message is - Please consider purchasing one subscription for every 10 people at your locations so we can keep the promoters happy and keep speedbox alive. I'm sure in every group there will be someone who doesn't mind paying their way.

Well I'm sorry to have vented on you all but it needed saying. On a more positive note we have a really good looking season next year, Our usual's; The World 240s, The NZ stockcar champs, The Superstock Teams Champs. We may be doing the Stockcar Teams Champs and hopefully we can reach an agreement to do the NZ Superstocks again. Also on our radar is the Peter Barry Memorial and the Auckland Teams Nationals. We would love to do them all but funding is always the issue!

Well if you have read this whole blog I guess you are a True Speedbox Supporter and we look forward to your custom next season, in the mean time enjoy the many motorsport show we are uploading through out the year.

We want to start streaming karts in Australia

I'm part of a Kart club in Australia and we want to start streaming our club day races. The initial outlay is a bit big but the final outcome will be great for karting in Aus. Do you guys do the camera work as well?

Nearly on Top of It All

Hi Norton

Understand your feelings and deplore the thieves that steal.

Without your coverage I for one would not see as much of stockcars as I would like due to the amount of travel required. I have enjoyed your wonderful coverage even if under difficult circumstances. Although it will not necessarily fill your coffer's, please dont give up for "nothing great is easily won".

I could stand an extra $10 and would be pleased to contribute at that level.

Cheers

Nomadmike
